New field site at Parc Agrignon

Thanks to our close partners and collaborators from the Ville de Montreal, we are starting a new project exploring the stopover of birds during fall migration at the beautiful Parc Agrignon of Montreal. This large, multi-use park features important urban blue and green spaces enjoyed by people and wildlife alike. This work will be part of an incoming graduate student’s research project. Currently led by hard working and talented Birds & Trees team led research tech, Ana Morales, pilot field work this fall will include tagging around 30 migratory songbirds with Motus nanotags to explore their use and movement around the park as well as their subsequent migration southwards. Helped by Birds & Trees FSWEP honours student, Jess Liddell, and experienced telemetry tracker Florence Piche-Lebel, the team will collect critical data to understand more about how our cities blue and green spaces can serve as critical migration stopover sites.
